華盛頓巫師隊老將前鋒 Paul Pierce 向 ESPN 記者提到他前隊友們，效力於波士頓塞爾蒂克隊與布魯克林籃網隊時期，他所觀察到的事情，在今天不吐不快！
他認為籃網隊年輕球員不愛練球，需要他和 Kevin Garnett 去帶動球隊。至於「籃網一哥」 Deron Williams，Pierce 覺得他給自己的壓力太大，也無法適應紐約媒體：
“Before I got there, I looked at Deron as an MVP candidate, but I felt once we got there, that’s not what he wanted to be. He just didn’t want that.
「在我到（籃網隊）之前，我視 Deron Williams 為年度最有價值球員候選人，但當我們到球隊之後，才發現他的目標並非如此，他就是沒有想去爭取」
“candidate” 「候選人」，也可以用 “contender” 來指「富有競爭力的人」（或是球隊）。當候選人幾乎是「不二人選」時，我們會說他是 “strong candidate”。

關於 Ray Allen，Pierce 認為他是獨行俠：
“We were all good friends on the court, but Ray always did his own thing. That’s just the way Ray was. Even when we were playing together, we’d be having a team dinner and Ray wouldn’t show up.”

“on the court” 「在場上」，相反的就是 “off the court”「在場外」；而棒球則是用 “on/off the field”。”do own thing” 「做自己的事情」，或是可以用 “lone wolf” 「孤狼」來形容一個人獨來獨往。
他也沒忘了老戰友 Kevin Garnett，在 08 年拿到冠軍後，曾介紹他提升攜氧量的高壓艙（hyperbaric chamber）。還提到「（當初）我可能會為了 Kevin 而留在布魯克林」（”I would have stayed in Brooklyn because of Kevin”），充分顯現 KG 和他的深厚情誼。
同時表示明年將是最後一季，他已經享受過生涯輝煌了（“I’ve had my time”）。
